From Highway 101, the approach to the East Gate is along Ward Memorial Boulevard, also known as State Highway 217. At the stoplight, Ward Memorial ends. To your left will be Lagoon Road, and to your right will be Mesa Road.

The Engineering I Building is located on Lagoon Road between Kohn Hall and the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science. Parking is difficult while construction of the new Nanoscience Building is consuming the space of Lot 10 (see campus map on this site, or pick one up at the East Gate kiosk).

A new parking garage is scheduled for this area, probably to become available in 2005. Lot 6, at the end of Lagoon Road near the Marine Science Building, has free valet parking, but space is limited. On the other side of campus, Lots 12 and 13 are quite large, and you can walk from there to the Engineering I Building in about 10 minutes. There are several computer labs in the Engineering I building, but the ECE department lab is on the fourth floor, room 4108.

Prof. "Tim" Cheng's office is directly across from his lab, Room 4109.
